Prof. A K W Jayawardane


Chairman

Prof. A K W Jayawardane has been serving as the Chairman of CBC Tech Solutions Ltd from 2015. Also Prof.Jayawardane serves as a Non-Executive Independent Director of the Commercial Bank since April 2015 and currently he is the Chairman of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC.

Prof. A K W Jayawardane is currently a Commission Member of the University Grants Commission and a Senior Professor in Civil Engineering. He served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa for six years, Dean, Faculty of Engineering for six years and as an Endowed Professor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Moratuwa for one year. He obtained BSc Eng Degree in Civil Engineering with first class honours from the University of Moratuwa, a Master of Science Degree in Construction from the Loughborough University of Technology UK and a PhD in Construction Management from the same University.

Prof. Jayawardane served as the President of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka. He is also a Director of Sierra Cables PLC and a member of Board of Management of several other institutions. He is also a Corporate Member, a Fellow and an International Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), CEng, FIE(SL), IntPE(SL), Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka, FNAS(SL), Founder Member of the Society of Structural Engineers Sri Lanka MSSE(SL), Fellow of the Institute of Project Managers, Sri Lanka, FIPM (SL), Life Member of Sri Lanka Association for Advancement of Science and a Graduate Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors GSLID.

Mr. Sumudu Gunawardhana


Managing Director

Mr Gunawardhana is the Managing Director of CBC Tech Solutions Ltd and Chief Information Officer of the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC

Mr Sumudu Gunawardhana graduated from the University of Moratuwa in Computer Science and Engineering with honours and obtained the Associate Membership of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka. He acquired a Masters Degree in General Management from the University of Colombo and is a member of the project management institute of USA. Mr Gunawardhana holds an Executive Diploma in General Management from Sloan Business School of MIT USA. He is also a passed finalist of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) of the UK.

Before joining Commercial Bank, he worked at HCL Sri Lanka, Virtusa Corporation, Millennium IT, Pramuka Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and JB Stock Brokers.

Being in the industry for more than 30 years, he has a vast experience in Technology transformation, Business growth and change management, IT Operation, Business law and contract negotiation and Stakeholder Management.

Mr. Nandika Buddhipala


Director

Nandika is the Chief Financial Officer of the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC and has over 25 years post qualifing experience in the Banking, Telecommunication and Audit & Assurance industries. He obtained his first degree Bsc in Business Administration and Post Graduade Diploma in Management from the Sri Jayawardenepura University. He has his MBA, MA in Financial Economics and MSc in Financial Mathematics from the University of Colombo. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA), Institute of Certified Management Accountants(FCMA, SL) of Sri Lanka, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and member of the Chartered Institute of Securitie & Investment(MCISI) of UK. He is also a fellow member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA), Senior Associate of Financial Services Institute (SA FIN) of Australia and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) of USA.

He was a past president and current Member Network Panel of ACCA and member of the Advisory Committee of CISI Sri Lanka branch, Hon Secretary and the Chairman of the Banking & Financial Services Committee of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. He is also a member of Board of Management of the School of Accounting and Business of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and external member of the Faculty of Business and Finance of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. He was a Board Member of the Sri Lanka Accounting & Auditing Standards Monitoring Board and recently appointed as a Education Global Forum Specialist by ACCA, UK.

Mr. Krishan Gamage


Director

Mr. Krishan Gamage is presently the Assistant General Manager – Information Technology of Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc. He possesses 18 years of experience in the field of information technology and over 10 years in banking. Before taking up the current responsibility he served Lankabell Ltd. as the capacity of General Manager - Technical.

Mr. Krishan Gamage obtained BSc Engineering degree in Electronic and Telecommunication from the University of Moratuwa.

Mr. M. P. Dharmasiri


Company Secretary

Mr. M. P. Dharmasiri joined the Bank on March 01.1990 and counts over 25 years of experience in the field of Banking and over 20 years of experience in the areas of Finance and Planning. Presently he serves as the Assistant General Manager - Planning of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC.

He obtained BSc and MSc Degrees in Business Administration from the University of Jayawardanapura and a Master of Arts Degree on Financial Economics from the University of Colombo. He is also an Assciate member of the Institute of Bankers in Sri Lanka.

He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Sanath Manatunga


Mr Sanath Manatunge is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – UK (FCMA – UK) and has obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with a Merit Pass. He is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Bankers – Sri Lanka (FIB), a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCMA) and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, UK (FCMI). Mr Manatunge is also a member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors since August 2017.

Mr Manatunge joined the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC in 1989. Prior to being appointed as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Manatunge functioned as Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of the Bank since 2018. He has held Corporate Management / Senior positions as Deputy General Manager – Corporate Banking, Chief Risk Officer, Head of Credit Risk and Chief Manager - Corporate Banking.

Under Mr Manatunge, the Corporate Banking Division of the Bank experienced a rapid growth in the loan book and in areas such as Trade Finance fee-based income while maintaining the quality of advances. During his tenure as Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Manatunge was heading strategically important business units of the Bank such as Personal Banking, Corporate Banking, Information Technology, Cards, and Digital Banking guiding them to become industry leaders. He has also given leadership and strategic inputs for transformational projects of the Bank such as “SME Transformation”, establishing a long term digital roadmap for the Bank and many projects to improve operational excellence.

Mr Manatunge is also a Director of Commercial Bank of Maldives (Pvt) Ltd., a subsidiary of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC since 2016.

He was adjudged the “Chief Information Security Officer of the Year” at the EC – Council Global CISO Forum held in Atlanta – USA in September 2013 in recognition of his outstanding contribution in strengthening and promoting information security practices and IT Risk Management.

He was instrumental in forming the Association of Banking Sector Risk Professionals, Sri Lanka and was the President in the year 2014. He has also served as a Council Member of the Association of Professional Bankers (APB) and a member of the CIMA – “Thought Leadership Committee”.

He was a visiting lecturer for the MBA Degree programme at the University of Colombo. Also a resource person at the Training Centre of Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.
